Show amounts in English or in your own language
In short
Next to the language menu, How amounts look offers English (PKR 1,850.00) or My language (1,850.00 روپے, ٣٧٫٥٠ ر.س). It is saved on your account, and what you send follows it.
On this page
Credit Khata can write money in two ways. English uses the currency code and Western digits, such as SAR 37.50 or PKR 1,850.00. My language uses your language's own digits and the currency's own sign or word, such as ٣٧٫٥٠ ر.س in Arabic or 1,850.00 روپے in Urdu. Pick one under How amounts look, right next to the language menu; the choice is saved on your account.
Until you choose, Urdu, Arabic, Persian, Hindi and Bengali show amounts in My language, and every other language shows them in English.
The two choices
| Language and currency | English | My language |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic, Saudi riyal | SAR 37.50 | ٣٧٫٥٠ ر.س |
| Urdu, Pakistani rupee | PKR 1,850.00 | 1,850.00 روپے |
| Persian, Afghan afghani | AFN 350.00 | ۳۵۰٫۰۰ افغانی |
| Hindi, Indian rupee | INR 1,850.00 | ₹1,850.00 |
| Bengali, Bangladeshi taka | BDT and Western digits | ৳ and Bengali digits |
Urdu and Hindi keep the digits shops there write every day (1, 2, 3) and change only the currency's sign or word. Arabic, Persian and Bengali also switch to their own digits. In the other languages, My language keeps Western digits and writes the currency's sign the way that language does.
Counts use the same digits as amounts, and units read in your language too: two kilograms is ٢ كغ in Arabic and 2 کلو in Urdu.
Each choice shows a live example in your own currency, so you can pick by sight rather than by name.
Change it in the counter app
- Before signing in: next to the language menu at the top corner of the sign-in screen is a second menu with a banknote icon. It shows how amounts look now, for example English · PKR 1,850.50. Open it and pick English or My language. The choice is saved on your account when you sign in.
- On a computer: at the bottom of the sidebar, under your name and above the language menu, open the same menu and pick the other choice.
- In your profile (works on phones too): open Profile and tap How amounts look, just below Language; pick English or My language (each shows an example in your shop's currency).
- Riders: the choice is on your profile page, under the language.
Change it in the customer web app
- Before signing in: the amount menu sits next to the language menu at the top of the sign-in page.
- Once signed in: open My profile from the button at the top of your account. Under Language is How amounts look; open it and pick English or My language. The examples use your account's currency.
If you follow accounts at several shops, the choice is saved on each of them. More on the customer's side in For customers: open your account, check entries and pay the shop.
Change it in the Android app
The choice comes to the Android app with its next release:
- On the sign-in screen: tap the amount chip next to the language chip at the top.
- Once signed in: open Profile and tap How amounts look under App, just below Language.
A sheet shows English and My language, each with an example in your currency, and the note "Receipts and reminders you send use it too." Tap one to choose. Shopkeepers and customers use the same setting.
What follows your choice
- Every device. The choice is saved on your account, so it follows you to every device and app where you sign in. You set it once; the language, by contrast, is remembered by each device.
- What you send. Receipts, statements and PDFs, and the WhatsApp or SMS reminders you send are written the same way. See Print or share a customer's account statement and Send payment reminders on WhatsApp or SMS.
- Alerts you receive. Push notifications that mention an amount follow your choice too.
- Counts and units. Quantities use the same digits as amounts, with units in your language.
Good to know
- It changes only how amounts are written. Your currency, your entries and your balances stay exactly as they are.
- Each person chooses for themselves. The owner, a cashier, a manager and each customer can all read amounts their own way.
- If you have not chosen, the default follows the app language: switch to Urdu and amounts read in My language; switch to English and they read in English. Once you choose, your choice stays whatever the language. To change the language itself, see Change the app language (Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and more).
Frequently asked questions
If I pick My language, do my customers see amounts that way too?
Not in their own app. Each person chooses for themselves, so a customer reads their account the way they picked. Receipts, statements and reminders you send them are written your way.
Why do my amounts show ٣٧٫٥٠ instead of 37.50?
In Arabic, Persian and Bengali, My language uses that language's own digits, and it is the default until you choose. Pick English under How amounts look to see the currency code and Western digits.
Do I have to choose again on my phone?
No. The choice is saved on your account, so every device and app where you sign in uses it.
Does it change my shop's currency or my balances?
No. It only changes how amounts are written. Your currency, your entries and every balance stay exactly as they are.
